Career Literacy vs. Career Illiteracy
We talk a lot about Digital Literacy, people’s ability to find, evaluate, and communicate information using various digital tools and platforms. It’s a critical competence for surviving and thriving in the digital economy because digital platforms and tools shape every environment and experience. But digital literacy is not enough.
Young people need Career Literacy.
It’s the ability to understand, evaluate, and manage your career options and actions. It’s the ability to understand your unique strengths, evaluate your options, manage your gaps, pinpoint the skills you need, combine the moving pieces into a practical plan, and prioritize actions to achieve your career goals.
With all the massive technology change and chaos that’s disrupting and reshaping education, learning and work, acquiring career literacy is the most critical competence every young person needs.
