[AIT] An agenda for the future
There’s a reason for the picture; read on.
Technology disruption is everywhere, and the world is changing faster than ever. It feels like nothing is predictable anymore.
Technology brings opportunity, but to many it’s a looming threat of economic and personal displacement. People increasingly must reinvent themselves, while managing a world that’s becoming chaotic.
The stakes can’t get any higher. Among other things, it’s about people’s identities and sense of self-worth. And, of course, about their economic security, purpose, mental health, and well-being.
Businesses, as we know them, are not off the hook, either.
Key questions are coming to shape — and define — our personal and collective futures.
It’s not just the distant future, it’s the very near-term. It’s as soon as 2023.
These questions include:
How will work look like in the future?
And what is the nature of work we can expect to do?
Will careers be around for much longer, and what will they look like?
If you’re 15 to 18 years old, what should you do in January?
If you’re 18 years old, should you still plan on going to college?
If you’re 15 to 25 years old, what should you do to prepare?
If you’ve got a job, what’s your survival strategy?
What is talent? Where it is going to be found? And how early in one’s life?
How will people realize and monetize their own unique genius?
How will we earn in the future?
What’s the future of innovation? How will it be financed?
How are we going to learn?
And, most critically, how will we figure out what we must learn?
Should we identify “survival skills”? And if so, which are those?
These issues are real. They’re shaping the future. Your future. And the future of teens, youth, and young adults worldwide.
The era of economic security that (most) people experienced in Western advanced economics seems to be reaching its end. And young people are affected the most.
Ask young people and you’ll see that complacency gives way to a sense of crisis.
“Only in growth and change, paradoxically enough, is true security to be found.”
~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh (what an incredible story)
